PARCC Reporting Categories

In your preparation for the next-generation assessments from the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), you’ve probably noticed that the assessment reports the scores of students differently than your previous state examination.

Scores are reported based on assessment claims; the test is making a statement about what the student knows.
Claims reflect the broader goals of college and career readiness.

PARCC’s master claim for math and English language arts states that students are on track for college and career readiness.
Sub-claims for each subject, which represent the reporting categories for the assessment, offer more detailed support for the master claim.
